PAD Contracts: February 2025 Projects

At PAD Contracts, February is shaping up to be a busy and productive month as we continue to work on a range of exciting projects across London. From retail spaces and residential developments to transport infrastructure and cultural landmarks, our team delivers high-quality architectural metalwork tailored to each site’s unique requirements. Here’s a closer look at what we’re working on this month.

334 Oxford Street – Lendlease

We’re currently on site at 334 Oxford Street, contributing to the redevelopment of this well-known location in partnership with Lendlease. Our work here involves a mix of general and architectural metalwork, including polished stainless-steel railings, bike racks, and back-of-house installations. The polished railings are designed to meet both functional and aesthetic needs, while the bike racks and other elements support the practical demands of this busy urban environment. It’s a project that requires precision and attention to detail, and we’re proud to play a role in its transformation.

Chapter Living

Our team is also working on Chapter Living, a project focused on creating modern student accommodation. The metalwork we’re providing includes bespoke features such as steel-framed glazed partitions and expanded mesh panels, which are being installed to enhance the design of communal spaces. These elements are not only functional but also contribute to the overall look and feel of the interiors. It’s rewarding to know that our work will help create spaces where students can live, study, and connect in comfort.

One Broadgate

At One Broadgate, we’re collaborating with Sir Robert McAlpine on a large mixed-use development that combines office space with retail areas. Our work here includes installing colourful balustrades for the central staircase—each floor features its own distinct colour—and creating access walkways, guardrails, and ladders for plant rooms at the top of the building. This project has given us the opportunity to combine safety-focused metalwork with more visually striking elements, which is always an interesting challenge for our team.

Battersea Tube Station – Western Entrance

We’re also involved in the ongoing development of Battersea Power Station’s tube station, specifically focusing on the western entrance. This part of the project involves creating durable and functional metalwork that will stand up to heavy use in a public transport setting. While some details are still under wraps, it’s great to be contributing to such an important piece of London’s infrastructure.

Museum of London – West Smithfield

Another key project for us this month is our work at the Museum of London’s new home in West Smithfield. This site has a rich history, which means our work needs to strike a careful balance between preserving its heritage features and introducing modern elements. We’re currently designing and installing stairways, balustrades, and wall linings that complement both the historic architecture and contemporary additions like glass and copper finishes. One particularly interesting aspect of this project is a bespoke lighting tray system for gallery spaces—we’re still in the testing phase for this element, but once complete, it will span nearly one kilometre across the museum. It’s a challenging but rewarding project that demonstrates how modern metalwork can integrate seamlessly into historic settings.

A Collaborative Effort

All these projects reflect our team’s ability to adapt to different environments and requirements. Whether it’s polished railings for a high-profile retail space or bespoke designs for cultural landmarks, we’re committed to delivering work that meets both practical needs and design expectations. February has been busy so far, but it’s always satisfying to see progress being made on such varied projects across London. At PAD Contracts, we take pride in being part of these developments and look forward to seeing them take shape
