The Londoner

Luxury Hotel in The Heart of Leicester Square, London Features Bespoke Architectural Solutions by PAD Contracts

The Londoner is a luxury super boutique hotel situated on the southwest corner of Leicester Square. Owned by Edwardian Hotels the Londoner is a new development of 350-bedrooms and cinema complex with eight storeys above ground and six below ground, complete with bars and restaurants.

PAD Contracts was asked to manufacture and install a range of bespoke architectural metalwork solutions for the 5-star hotel. Known for their attention to detail and experience with high profile construction projects PAD Contracts created custom-built solutions specifically for the Londoner hotels exacting requirements.

At the heart of the hotel sits an impressive atrium, a stunning interior space featuring an integral staircase spanning the floors of the hotel. PAD Contracts was commissioned to produce the beautiful atrium staircase and veil. The bespoke metalwork staircase and veil were manufactured by skilled craftspeople in PAD’s factory in Waltham Abbey and shipped to site for installation. Both the staircase and veil feature a beautiful bronze Metalite® finish that was hand blended on site to ensure the finish was consistent across the whole installation.

The hotel features further bespoke metalwork by PAD Contracts in the viewing room, a mezzanine level in the hub of the building.  This ‘floating’ floor features spectacular veils to all four sides of the room. The space is accessed by three feature staircases linking to various parts of the hotel. The viewing rooms bespoke metalwork stairs and veil echo the elegant design of the main atrium. Further work by PAD can be found in the bar club interior where stunning veils span from floor to ceiling to provide visual interest in the room whilst creating subtle partitioning without restricting light flow. As the main staircase and veils the bar club veil was manufacture from steel and finished in bronze Metalite®

The eye-catching building is designed to complement existing properties and will work as a series of independent but connected venues, as well as operating as a single entity for hosting major film premieres in the future.

Iype Abraham, Commercial Development Director at Edwardian Hotels London, says: “The Londoner exemplifies Edwardian Hotels London’s bold philosophy. Building a complex and ambitious project in an iconic area is a demonstration of our commitment to London and our ability to deliver high-quality, sustainable, integrated hotels designed for the future. We are privileged to play a pivotal role in the regeneration of Leicester Square and contribute to the evolving skyline of London.”

The Londoner Hotel has an ‘Excellent’ rating from BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) and meets and exceeds requirements for energy and water use, health and wellbeing, pollution, transport, materials, waste, ecology and management process.

“Staggering in scale yet boutique in feel, The Londoner is the advocate of the individual, intimate, eclectic and curated, brought to life across 16 storeys. Premiering in 2021, The Londoner will be part of a new hotel category of one: a super boutique hotel.”
