PAD Contracts has been commissioned to provide an architectural metalwork package for the One Liverpool Street project in London, which is expected to be completed in January 2026.
About One Liverpool Street
One Liverpool Street is a new over site development of 10 floors of state-of-the-art offices, with retail space to the ground level. The site is located directly over Metropolitan Line tracks, Crossrail tunnels and other buried infrastructure.
The build has a strong sustainability focus, targeting a BREEAM Outstanding rating, which is the highest sustainability certification that can be awarded. It is also aligned with CCREM’s (Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor) decarbonisation pathway requirements.
A provision of 300 cycle spaces and high quality end of journey facilities will be provided to encourage eco-friendly commuting, which further promotes the sustainability focus of the project. This is just one element of the build with which PAD Contracts will have direct involvement.
The brief
PAD Contracts is providing high quality architectural metalwork design, manufacture and installation across various areas of the build.
Known for our problem solving skills and design innovation, we are trusted by architects and main contractors to provide specialist metalwork fabrication and installation services on large scale, high profile construction projects like One Liverpool Street.
The designs we are currently working on for this project are:
-
- Stainless steel handrails and balustrades
- Step overs that will provide anti-slip, level walking surfaces that will enhance safety and also prevent walls, pipes, ducts and cables from becoming damaged
- Access staircases
- Cat ladders, also known as roof or ship ladders, that will have hooks and wheels to access roofs and other elevated areas
- Cycle storage and lockers for the end of journey facilities
- Door access control posts.

The PAD Contracts approach
As with all projects, the PAD Contracts team will work closely with all external stakeholders from design concepts through to manufacture and installation. We ensure that our architectural metalwork designs meet the brief, provide well thought-out solutions to challenges, are of the highest quality and beautifully crafted, and provide practical and aesthetic benefits to our clients and users of the building.
Our architectural metalwork expertise is invaluable for large, high profile construction projects like One Liverpool Street where quality control and a cohesive way of working between contractors throughout the project is essential. Our 18,000 sq ft factory building with in-house design facilities gives us the capacity to handle such large scale projects. Small metalwork companies without our facilities and project management teams would be unable to provide the same comprehensive level of service.
PAD Contracts’ industry accreditations
The quality of our architectural metalwork design, manufacture and installation, along with our extensive problem solving skills, has led to many industry accreditations.
We are proud to be accredited with the Achilles BuildingConfidence Accreditation Scheme to Level 5, and CE Mark to Execution Class 3. These demonstrate our industry-leading skills and commitment to quality management.
Our Constructiononline Gold member status demonstrates compliance with industry standards such as PAS 91 and the Common Assessment Standard. We have also been awarded welding and factory production control certificates through the Steel Construction Certification Scheme.
Meeting expected standards applies not only to the work we produce, but also to our daily operation. We are accredited with FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) to ensure the safety and environmental and operational efficiency of our fleet of vehicles. We have also been issued with a Certificate of Assurance by the Government led programme Cyber Essentials to prevent our data from being compromised by cyberattacks, which gives clients reassurance that their information is protected.
